SN7420 Dual 4-Input NAND Gate

The SN7420 contains two independent NAND gates, each with 4 inputs. Each gate’s output is low only when all four inputs are high; any other combination gives a high output.

7420 – How It Works

Each of the two gates needs all four of its inputs high at the same instant for the output to go low — which makes it well suited to decoding circuits that need to confirm an exact match across 4 bits at once.
