SN7490 Decade Counter

The SN7490 is a classic decade (divide-by-10) counter, internally built from a divide-by-2 section and a divide-by-5 section that can be wired separately or combined for a full 0–9 BCD count.

7490 – How It Works

Wiring the divide-by-2 output into the divide-by-5 input’s clock gives a standard BCD count sequence on 4 output pins; used alone, the divide-by-2 section is also a handy simple toggle flip-flop.

It was one of the most widely used chips in 1970s–80s digital clocks and instruments precisely because pairing it with a 7448 gives a complete digit-counting-and-display stage from just two chips.

كانت من أكتر الشرائح استخدامًا في الساعات الرقمية والأجهزة في السبعينات والثمانينات بالظبط لأن دمجها مع 7448 بيدي مرحلة عد وعرض رقم كاملة من شريحتين بس.
