The 74245 is an 8-channel transceiver that passes data in both directions, with a direction-control pin (DIR) and an output-enable pin (OE). Used to interface two digital systems over a shared data bus.

74245 – How It Works

The DIR pin sets the direction of data flow (A-to-B or B-to-A), and OE enables or disables the whole chip (putting it in High-Z). This lets two different devices share the same bus line without conflict, as long as DIR and OE are controlled correctly.
