TDA4555 Multistandard TV Colour Decoder

The TDA4555 is a monolithic multistandard colour decoder supporting PAL, SECAM, and NTSC (3.58MHz and 4.43MHz) television standards, with automatic standard recognition.

TDA4555 – How It Works

It automatically detects which broadcast standard is present by sequential inquiry, then processes the chrominance signal through gain-controlled amplification and standard-specific demodulators (synchronous for PAL/NTSC, quadrature for SECAM) to recover the color-difference signals.

A closely related part, the TDA4556, is functionally identical except for the polarity of its (B-Y)/(R-Y) color-difference outputs — worth double-checking which exact variant a repair calls for.
