74190 Up/Down Decade Counter

The 74190 is a synchronous BCD (0–9) up/down counter controlled by a single clock and a direction pin, with ripple carry/borrow outputs for cascading.

74190 – How It Works

Unlike the 74193 which uses two separate clock pins for up and down, the 74190 uses one clock plus a Up/Down select pin — simplifying the wiring in designs where direction changes are controlled logically rather than by separate pulse sources.

Its direct binary counterpart is the 74191 — pick the 74190 when you need each stage to display 0-9, and the 74191 when you’re counting in plain binary instead.

عكس 74193 اللي بيستخدم طرفي كلوك منفصلين للفوق والتحت، الـ74190 بيستخدم كلوك واحد بس مع طرف اختيار اتجاه — وده بيسهل التوصيل في التصميمات اللي التحكم في الاتجاه فيها منطقي مش من مصدرين نبضات منفصلين.

نظيرها الثنائي المباشر هو 74191 — اختار 74190 لو محتاج كل مرحلة تعرض 0-9، واختار 74191 لو بتعد بالنظام الثنائي العادي بدلًا من كده.
