SN7442 BCD to Decimal Decoder

The SN7442 converts a 4-bit BCD input (0–9) into one of ten active-low decimal outputs — exactly one output goes low for each valid input code, the rest stay high.

7442 – How It Works

Internally the chip decodes all 4 input bits simultaneously against each of the 10 valid BCD combinations; only the one output matching the current input code is pulled low, making it a true 1-of-10 selector for driving relays, lamps, or further decode logic.

Feeding it an invalid code (10–15, outside valid BCD range) leaves all ten outputs high — a built-in safeguard against driving the wrong load if upstream logic misbehaves.

لو دخّلتلها كود غلط (10 لـ15، برة مدى BCD الصحيح) كل العشر مخارج بتفضل عالية — ده حماية مدمجة ضد تشغيل الحمل الغلط لو المنطق اللي قبلها اتلخبط.
