The LA7285 (Sanyo) integrates all the functions needed for recording and playing back the audio signal in a VCR (video cassette recorder), including built-in input switching for line and tuner sources.

LA7285 – How It Works

It handles both the equalization needed when recording audio onto tape and the reverse equalization needed when reading it back, without requiring external equalizer capacitors — and its low gain variation between units removes the need for factory calibration/adjustment.

Its compact package and reduced external component count made it popular in later-generation VCR designs aiming to cut both board space and manufacturing cost.
