LM358 Dual Operational Amplifier

The LM358 is the dual (2-in-1) version of the same single-supply op-amp family as the LM324, extremely common in low-power analog signal-conditioning circuits.

LM358 – How It Works

It shares the exact same single-supply operating principle and internal design as the LM324, just with two amplifiers per chip instead of four — a common choice when a circuit needs only one or two op-amp stages and a smaller 8-pin package is preferred.

Its 8-pin package is exactly the same footprint as the extremely common NE555 timer, though the pinout and function are completely different, so double-check part markings when pulling from a mixed parts bin.
