4515B 4-to-16 Line Decoder/Demultiplexer with Latch (CMOS)

The 4515B is a 4-to-16 line decoder/demultiplexer IC with an input address latch, in the CMOS 4000-series family, decoding a 4-bit binary address into one of 16 output lines.

4515B – How It Works

Like the 74154 also in this catalog but built in CMOS with a built-in address latch (similar in concept to the 74137 also in this catalog), it captures and holds the 4-bit address on command, letting it hold a stable decoded output even if the address inputs subsequently change, useful in multiplexed-bus low-power designs.

It combines the wide-decoding capability of the 74154 with the address-latching feature of the 74137 (both also in this catalog), while offering the low-power CMOS advantages typical of the 4000-series family.
