The KA22421 (Samsung) is a single-chip AM radio receiver IC in a DIP-16 package, integrating the IF amplifier, AM detector, and converter/power amplifier stages for a complete AM receiver.

KA22421 – How It Works

It combines the intermediate-frequency amplification, AM signal detection/demodulation, frequency conversion, and output amplification stages needed for a complete AM broadcast receiver in one chip, similar in concept to the CXA1019 (though for AM specifically) also in this catalog, simplifying vintage portable radio designs.

It fills the AM-band equivalent role to what the CXA1019 provides for FM/AM combined reception also in this catalog — useful to compare when diagnosing which radio band section of a portable radio has failed.
