The S8035 (Signetics) is a ROMless 8-bit microcontroller from the classic MCS-48 family, a second-source equivalent to the P8035 also in this catalog, requiring external program memory.

S8035 – How It Works

Like the P8035 and M80C39 also in this catalog, it shares the MCS-48 core instruction set but has no internal ROM, requiring a companion external EPROM/ROM chip to hold its program — Signetics was one of several manufacturers second-sourcing this widely-licensed Intel architecture.

Being a second-sourced part of the same architecture as the P8035 also in this catalog, it can generally be treated as pin- and function-compatible when substituting between the two brands.
