SN7474 Dual D-Type Flip-Flop

The SN7474 packs two independent D-type flip-flops, each positive-edge triggered with its own asynchronous Preset and Clear inputs — a fundamental storage element for digital circuits.

7474 – How It Works

On the rising edge of the clock, each flip-flop copies whatever is on its D input to its Q output and holds it there until the next rising edge. The Preset and Clear pins bypass the clock entirely, letting you force the output high or low immediately.

Connecting the Q̄ output back to the D input turns one flip-flop into a simple toggle (divide-by-2) stage — the classic building block used to chain together ripple counters.

على الحافة الموجبة للكلوك، كل فليب فلوب بينسخ أي حاجة على مدخل D بتاعه لمخرج Q ويحتفظ بيها لحد الحافة الجاية. أطراف Preset وClear بتتخطى الكلوك خالص، وبتسمحلك تجبر الخرج على واحد أو صفر فورًا.

توصيل مخرج Q̄ رجوع لمدخل D بيحول فليب فلوب واحد لمرحلة تبديل بسيطة (قسمة على 2) — اللبنة الكلاسيكية اللي بتتستخدم لبناء عدادات ريبل متتالية.
