Arduino Mega 2560 Board

The Arduino Mega 2560 board is built around the ATmega2560 and exists specifically for projects that outgrow the Uno’s 20 I/O pins — it exposes 54 digital I/O pins and 16 analog inputs, roughly quadruple an Uno’s I/O count. USB cable included, so it’s ready to program the moment it’s out of the box.

Arduino Mega 2560 – Core Specs

Behind that pin count sits 256KB of flash (8KB reserved for the bootloader), 8KB SRAM and 4KB EEPROM, running at the same familiar 16MHz as the Uno so existing Arduino sketches port over directly. Four hardware UARTs, instead of the Uno’s one, let it talk to several serial devices — a GPS module and a Bluetooth module, say — at the same time without software-serial workarounds. An onboard ATmega16U2 handles USB-to-serial conversion and a resettable polyfuse protects the host computer’s USB port from shorts.
