The UT07B socket tester adds RCD leakage testing to UNI-T’s standard wiring-fault detection, confirming a safety breaker actually trips on top of checking for missing ground, missing neutral, or reversed wiring.

UT07B socket tester – How It Works

Plug it into an EU socket and it identifies the same wiring faults as the UT07A – ground missing, neutral missing, live/ground or live/neutral reversed, plus a combined “live/ground reversed and ground missing” condition – then adds a leakage test at roughly a 30mA threshold to confirm the circuit’s RCD breaker actually trips as it should. That RCD check is the real safety upgrade over the plain wiring tester.

It runs on the same 230V, under-18mA, 50-60Hz platform as the A model, in a similarly compact EU-socket body – the extra safety test is the only real difference, not a separate design.

Care and Practical Notes

Store the instrument in a dry place within its rated temperature range and remove the batteries if it will sit unused for an extended period, because a leaking cell is one of the most common ways a perfectly good test instrument is written off. A protective case pays for itself the first time the tool is dropped.

Let the instrument acclimatize when moving it between very different environments, and allow a short warm-up before precision work, since internal components need to reach a stable temperature before their readings settle. Comparing measurements against a known reference occasionally is the simplest way to catch drift before it affects a job that matters.
