UT133A digital multimeter – How It Works

Its True RMS engine keeps voltage and current readings accurate on distorted, non-sinusoidal waveforms, while a 6000-count auto-ranging display and a fast 3-samples-per-second ADC keep readings responsive during troubleshooting. Non-contact voltage detection lets you sense a live conductor before ever touching a probe to it, and a built-in temperature mode adds thermal readings without needing a separate tool.

Rated CAT III 600V and drop-tested to 2 meters, it runs on 2 AAA batteries with a backlit LCD for readable results in dim panels.

Getting Accurate Readings

Before taking any measurement, confirm the test leads sit in the correct input jacks for the function selected, because leaving a lead in the current jack while measuring voltage is the single most common way a meter’s internal fuse gets blown. Start on the highest range when the expected value is unknown, then step down until the display shows useful resolution.

Keep the probe tips clean and check the leads for cracked insulation regularly, since a damaged lead is both a safety risk and a source of unstable readings. Replace the battery as soon as the low-battery indicator appears, because a weak cell can quietly skew resistance and continuity results well before the meter shuts down completely.
