The UT136B+ digital multimeter is the non-contact voltage (NCV) focused member of UNI-T’s UT136+ family, sharing the same 1000V/10A measurement platform as its temperature-capable UT136C+ sibling.

UT136B+ digital multimeter – How It Works

Its NCV mode lets you sweep near a wire or socket to sense live voltage before ever making contact with a probe, a quick safety-first check ahead of standard testing. Like its C+ sibling, it measures AC/DC voltage and current up to 1000V/10A, reads a 1mF capacitor in about 4 seconds, and samples at 4 readings per second for responsive results.

It shares the family’s CAT II 1000V / CAT III 600V safety rating, 2-meter drop resistance behind a 3mm protective sleeve, and large LCD with overload alarm.

Getting Accurate Readings

Before taking any measurement, confirm the test leads sit in the correct input jacks for the function selected, because leaving a lead in the current jack while measuring voltage is the single most common way a meter’s internal fuse gets blown. Start on the highest range when the expected value is unknown, then step down until the display shows useful resolution.

Keep the probe tips clean and check the leads for cracked insulation regularly, since a damaged lead is both a safety risk and a source of unstable readings. Replace the battery as soon as the low-battery indicator appears, because a weak cell can quietly skew resistance and continuity results well before the meter shuts down completely.
