The UT116A SMD tester is UNI-T’s standard surface-mount component tester, sharing the UT116C’s rotating tweezer-probe design at a lighter resistance and capacitance range.

UT116A SMD tester – How It Works

Its 3000-count display and 30MOhm resistance / 30mF capacitance range cover the great majority of everyday SMD passive components, without the extra battery-measurement mode that only the higher-spec UT116C includes. The same 180-degree rotating tweezer probes and Zener polarity test carry over from the C variant, so the core testing workflow is identical.

For anyone testing standard-range SMD components without needing the C model’s extended 60MOhm/100mF ceiling or battery test, this is the more economical choice with the same probe ergonomics.

Care and Compatibility

Check the voltage and current rating of any accessory against the instrument it will be used with, because an accessory rated below the measurement category of the job it is used on is a genuine safety concern rather than a minor mismatch.
