The UT387C wall scanner is a discontinued UNI-T stud finder detecting wood beams, metal objects, and live electric wires through walls using electromagnetic induction.

UT387C wall scanner – How It Works

Slide it across a wall surface and it detects metal up to 76mm deep, wood studs up to 28.5mm (or thick wood up to 38mm), and live AC wiring up to 51mm deep – each material type triggers its own buzzer and LED alert. Its detection accuracy holds to +/-15mm at 28.5mm depth in standard drywall, precise enough to avoid drilling into a hidden pipe or wire.

An error calibration alarm helps catch a bad reading before it leads to drilling in the wrong spot, and it’s built on the same electromagnetic induction principle used across UNI-T’s UT387 wall scanner family.

Scanning Technique

Move the scanner slowly and in a consistent straight line, because sweeping too quickly is the most common reason a detector misses a target it was perfectly capable of finding. Scan the same area from two perpendicular directions to confirm a hit before drilling or cutting anything.

Be aware that damp material, foil-backed insulation, and dense reinforcement can all affect what the instrument reports, so treat every detection as a strong indication rather than a guarantee. Recalibrate on a clear section of the same surface whenever the readings start behaving inconsistently, as the instrument references that baseline while scanning.

أسلوب المسح

حرك الجهاز ببطء وفي خط مستقيم ثابت، لأن المسح السريع أشهر سبب لفوات هدف كان الجهاز قادر تمامًا يلاقيه. امسح نفس المساحة من اتجاهين متعامدين عشان تأكد النتيجة قبل ما تخرم أو تقص أي حاجة.

خلي في بالك إن المواد الرطبة والعزل المبطن بالفويل والتسليح الكثيف كلهم بيأثروا على اللي الجهاز بيقوله، فتعامل مع أي كشف كمؤشر قوي مش ضمان. أعد المعايرة على جزء فاضي من نفس السطح كل ما القراءات تبدأ تتصرف بشكل غير متسق، لأن الجهاز بيرجع للخط المرجعي ده وهو بيمسح.
