This is a 9V negative fixed voltage regulator, a 3-terminal linear IC used to provide a stable, clean supply voltage to a circuit.

How It Works

This is a fixed-output negative voltage regulator, taking an unregulated input voltage (which must be somewhat higher than 9V to allow for the regulator’s own voltage drop) and outputting a stable, constant 9V (relative to ground, i.e. below 0V) regardless of moderate fluctuations in the input voltage or load current — internally, it uses a feedback loop that continuously compares the output to an internal voltage reference and adjusts a pass transistor to correct any deviation.
