The 7812 Positive Voltage Regulator 12V 1.5A TO-220 is a three-terminal fixed +12V linear regulator supplied in a TO-220 through-hole package, designed to provide local on-card regulation with up to 1.5A output current and built-in protections including thermal shutdown, current limiting and safe-area protection for robust and reliable operation in consumer, industrial and embedded power systems.

7812 is part of a series of 78XX voltage regulators. For ICs within the family, the xx is replaced with two digits, indicating the output voltage (for example, the 7805 has a 5-volt output, while the 7812 produces 12 volts).
