The Waterproof DS18B20 Thermometer Probe packages the widely used DS18B20 digital temperature sensor inside a sealed stainless steel tip on a long cable, letting a microcontroller measure temperature safely in liquids or damp environments a bare sensor couldn’t survive.

DS18B20 Waterproof Probe – How It Works

The sensor itself communicates over Dallas Semiconductor’s 1-Wire protocol, meaning only a single digital data pin (plus ground) is needed to talk to a microcontroller, and because each DS18B20 carries a unique factory-burned serial number, multiple probes can share the same single wire without conflicting. It measures across a wide -55°C to +125°C range with ±0.5°C accuracy in the commonly used -10 to +85°C band, and because the reading is already digital, it stays accurate over long cable runs where an analog thermistor’s signal would otherwise pick up noise and drift. The roughly 6mm stainless steel probe tip is fully sealed against moisture, letting it be submerged directly in water, soil or other liquids for aquarium, brewing, sous-vide or outdoor weather station projects that a standard through-hole sensor package would not survive.
