2N6285 transistor

The 2N6285 transistor is a PNP monolithic Darlington power transistor in a TO-3 package, rated 60V / 20A with very high current gain (hFE ~2400), complementary to the NPN 2N6282/6283/6284.

How It Works

The 2N6285 transistor packs two PNP transistor stages onto one die in a Darlington configuration, where the first stage’s output feeds the second stage’s base, multiplying overall current gain to a typical hFE of 2400. This lets a very small base current control up to 20A of collector current at up to 60V, while dissipating up to 160W in its rugged TO-3 package. As the PNP complement to the NPN 2N6282/6283/6284 series, it’s used in high-current, high-gain complementary amplifier and switching applications.
