BDX34B transistor

The BDX34B transistor is a PNP Darlington power transistor in a TO-220 package, rated 10A / 100V with very high current gain (hFE ~2500), complementary to the NPN BDX33B.

How It Works

The BDX34B transistor is a monolithic PNP Darlington: two PNP transistor stages on one die, where the first stage’s output drives the second stage’s base, multiplying current gain to a typical hFE of 2500. This lets a very small base current control up to 10A of collector current at up to 100V, with built-in base-emitter shunt resistors improving switching behavior over a basic Darlington. As the PNP half of a complementary pair with the NPN BDX33B, it’s commonly used in push-pull output and general-purpose low-speed switching applications.
