BUX18 transistor

The BUX18 transistor is an NPN high-voltage silicon power transistor with a sustaining voltage of 200V or more, designed for off-line power supplies, inverters, and PWM regulator circuits.

How It Works

The BUX18 transistor is built for the demanding job of switching directly across a rectified mains-derived DC rail: its collector-emitter sustaining voltage (VCEO(sus)) starts at 200V for the base part and reaches up to 425V in the C grade, while still switching fast enough for practical power-supply frequencies. This combination of high-voltage tolerance and switching speed is exactly what’s required in off-line (transformerless-input) switch-mode power supplies, inverters, and pulse-width-modulated regulators, where the transistor repeatedly switches a high-voltage DC bus on and off.
