BF337 transistor

The BF337 transistor is a silicon NPN small-signal transistor in a TO-39 metal case, used for amplification, switching, and high-voltage/current operation such as deflection amplifier circuits.

How It Works

As a small-signal NPN transistor, the BF337 transistor amplifies or switches by letting a base current control a larger collector-to-emitter current. Its TO-39 metal can package offers better heat dissipation than a small plastic package, and its construction gives it enough voltage headroom for high-voltage push-pull deflection amplifier duty — historically used, for example, to drive the X and Y deflection plates in oscilloscope CRTs, where the amplifier stage must swing a relatively large voltage accurately.
