D2624 transistor

The D2624 transistor is an NPN triple-diffused planar silicon transistor rated 1500V VCBO / 6A with an on-chip damper diode, designed for color TV horizontal deflection output.

How It Works

The D2624 transistor uses Sanyo’s HVP (high-voltage process) to reach an exceptionally high 1500V collector-base breakdown voltage, the margin needed to absorb the large flyback voltage spike created every time the transistor switches off at the end of a horizontal scan line. Its on-chip damper diode handles the energy recovery portion of that same switching cycle without a separate discrete component, and its high switching speed keeps the horizontal scan sharp — a design purpose-built for one job: driving the deflection yoke in a color CRT TV.
