3-Channel Line Tracker Module (TCRT5000)

The 3-Channel Line Tracker Module arranges three TCRT5000 infrared emitter/receiver pairs in a row, each independently reporting whether the surface beneath it reflects a lot of infrared light (typically a light-colored surface) or very little (typically a dark line), which is the basic signal a line-following robot needs to steer.

3-Channel Line Tracker – How It Works

Each TCRT5000 sensor has its own onboard potentiometer to adjust detection sensitivity, since the ideal threshold depends on the specific contrast between the line and background surface a robot will actually be tracking. With three channels instead of a single sensor, a robot’s controller can tell not just that it’s over a line, but roughly where the line sits relative to center — left channel triggered alone means steer right, right channel alone means steer left, and all three (or none) triggered signals either a wide line or having lost it entirely. Detection distance is short, typically 1-25mm depending on the specific unit, so the module needs to sit close to the floor surface for reliable readings.

Because ambient lighting and surface color both affect the sensitivity threshold, always tune each channel’s potentiometer on the actual track surface rather than assuming factory default settings will work correctly out of the box.

Adding a small opaque shroud around each sensor pair also helps block stray ambient light from skewing readings, especially under bright overhead lighting or direct sunlight.

كل حساس TCRT5000 عنده بوتنشيوميتر خاص بيه لضبط حساسية الكشف، لأن الحد المثالي بيعتمد على التباين المحدد بين الخط والسطح الخلفي اللي الروبوت فعلًا هيتتبعه. بـ3 قنوات بدل حساس واحد، متحكم الروبوت يقدر يعرف مش بس إنه فوق الخط، بس كمان تقريبًا فين الخط بالنسبة للمنتصف — القناة الشمال لوحدها بتشتغل معناها لف يمين، والقناة اليمين لوحدها معناها لف شمال، والتلاتة (أو ولا واحدة) بتشتغل معناها خط عريض أو الروبوت ضيّع الخط. مدى الكشف قصير، عادة 1-25 مم حسب الوحدة، فالموديول محتاج يقعد قريب من سطح الأرض لقراءات موثوقة.
