74157 Quad 2-to-1 Data Selector/Multiplexer PDIP-16

The 74157 Quad 2-to-1 Data Selector/Multiplexer PDIP-16 is a high-speed, low-power Schottky TTL quad multiplexer provided in a PDIP-16 through-hole package, designed to select a four-bit word from one of two sources using a single common select input and an active-low enable (strobe) for bus, address and data-selection applications.

74LS157 is a 2-input (2:1) Multiplexer IC. It has four similar multiplexers inside it and hence it is called a Quad package 2-Input Multiplexer. A Multiplexer as we know takes in 2 or more inputs and provides one of them as the output based on the Select line status.
