UT18D phase tester – How It Works

Its voltage test steps through 8 ranges from 6V up to 690V AC/DC, while a dedicated phase-rotation mode checks 3-phase systems from 57V to 400V across 50-400Hz to confirm the phases are wired in the correct sequence before energizing equipment. Continuity testing covers 0 to 100kΩ with both a beeper and LED indication for a clear pass/fail signal.

Unlike the UT18C’s compact 31x20mm LED display, the UT18D uses a much larger 73.5×35.5mm backlit LCD that also adds frequency measurement – the core voltage, phase-rotation, continuity, and CAT IV 600V/IP65 safety specs are otherwise identical between the two.

Connection Notes

Connect the test leads to the three phases in the order the instrument expects and confirm all clips have solid metal contact, because a poor connection on one phase is a common reason a sequence indicator reports an incorrect or unstable result. Verify the supply is within the instrument’s rated voltage range before connecting.

Treat the result as a check to be confirmed rather than a single-shot verdict when motor direction matters, and repeat the measurement after any change to the wiring. Keep the leads and clips in good condition, since worn insulation on three-phase test leads is a genuine safety hazard at these voltages.

ملاحظات التوصيل

وصل أسلاك الاختبار على الفازات الثلاثة بالترتيب اللي الجهاز متوقعه واتأكد إن كل المشابك لامسة معدن كويس، لأن توصيلة ضعيفة على فاز واحد سبب شائع لجهاز تتابع يدي نتيجة غلط أو غير مستقرة. تأكد إن المصدر في حدود مدى الفولت المقنن للجهاز قبل التوصيل.

تعامل مع النتيجة كفحص محتاج تأكيد مش حكم من مرة واحدة لما يكون اتجاه الموتور مهم، وكرر القياس بعد أي تغيير في التوصيلات. خلي الأسلاك والمشابك في حالة كويسة، لأن عزل متآكل على أسلاك اختبار ثلاثي الفاز خطر أمان حقيقي عند الفولت ده.
