The TB6600 Stepper Motor Driver is a robust bipolar stepper driver module capable of powering NEMA17 through NEMA23-class stepper motors at up to 4A peak current, well beyond what a small ULN2003-style unipolar driver can handle.

TB6600 – How It Works

The driver accepts simple STEP and DIR digital pulses from a microcontroller or CNC controller board, generating one motor step for each STEP pulse and moving in the direction set by the DIR pin, so the connected controller doesn’t need to manage individual coil energizing sequences the way a raw stepper driver circuit would require. Six DIP switches on the board set both the output current (8 settings from 0.5A to 3.5A, matched to the connected motor’s rated current) and the microstepping resolution (7 options from full-step up to 1/32 microstepping), with finer microstepping producing smoother, quieter motor rotation at the cost of needing more STEP pulses per full rotation. Running on a wide 9-42VDC supply and rated for motors up to 4A peak / 3.5A continuous, it includes built-in overcurrent, undervoltage and overheat protection, making it a common choice for CNC routers, 3D printers and other precision motion projects using NEMA17-23 steppers.
