The TDA7240 is a bridge-configured mono audio power amplifier IC designed for car audio applications, delivering high output power from an automotive supply using the BTL topology.

TDA7240 – How It Works

Like the TDA1562 also in this catalog, its bridge-tied-load configuration drives the speaker with two amplifier outputs working in opposite phase, roughly doubling the achievable output power compared to a single-ended amplifier from the same 12-14V automotive supply voltage.

Its mono BTL design makes it well suited specifically for subwoofer or single-channel high-power car audio applications, complementing multi-channel parts like the TDA8275HQ also in this catalog.
