The 93C56N is a 2Kbit serial CMOS EEPROM memory chip in a PDIP-8 package, part of the same Microwire-interface family as the 93C46 also in this catalog but with substantially more storage capacity.

93C56 – How It Works

Like the 93C46, it uses the Microwire chip-select/clock/data-in/data-out protocol for serial access, but with 2Kbit of storage — enough for more extensive configuration tables, multiple calibration profiles, or larger presets tables than the smaller 93C46 could hold.
