The TDA9116 (STMicroelectronics, vintage) is a low-cost I2C-controlled deflection processor IC for multisync monitors, integrating both horizontal and vertical deflection control with geometry correction.

TDA9116 – How It Works

It controls all functions related to horizontal and vertical deflection in a multimode/multisync computer display monitor from a single 32-pin package, with an internal sync processor and geometry correction block, letting it support very high performance monitors with a relatively low external component count.

Compared to the TDA4851/TDA4857/TDA4858 family also in this catalog, its I2C-controlled configuration allows a monitor’s on-screen-display controls to digitally adjust geometry and timing parameters rather than relying purely on fixed analog trim components.
