UT513A insulation tester – How It Works

Choose from 500V, 1000V, 1500V, 2500V, or 5000V test voltages depending on the equipment under test, and at its top voltage it resolves insulation resistance from 5MΩ up to 1000GΩ (1TΩ) – enough range for large transformers or generators where a lower-voltage tester would give an unreliable reading. Beyond insulation testing, it also measures DC/AC voltage up to 600V and low resistance from 0.1 to 999.9 ohms for ground bonding checks.

PI and DAR diagnostics, a USB interface for downloading results to a PC, and a calibration certificate make it a documentation-ready tool for compliance-driven testing work.

Safe Testing Practice

Always confirm the circuit is fully de-energized and isolated before applying a test voltage, because insulation testers deliberately output high voltage and connecting one to a live circuit is dangerous to both the operator and the instrument. Discharge the tested equipment afterwards, since cables and windings can hold a charge long enough to deliver a shock minutes later.

Disconnect sensitive electronics from the circuit before testing, as the applied test voltage can damage semiconductors and surge protection devices that were never designed to see it. Record readings alongside ambient temperature and humidity, because insulation resistance varies significantly with both and a trend over time tells far more than a single absolute number.

ممارسات اختبار آمنة
