UT273+ earth resistance tester – How It Works

Clamp it around a grounding conductor and it measures earth resistance from as low as 0.010Ω up to 600Ω without disconnecting the ground line or needing auxiliary electrodes – the same non-invasive method as its base UT273 sibling, but with a larger 55x32mm jaw and expanded 500-measurement storage transferable via USB. A 4-digit EBTN screen shows resistance and leakage current (1mA to 20A) simultaneously.

A real-time clock, alarm function, and strong anti-interference design make it practical for logging ground-resistance readings over time at a site, not just single spot checks.

Safe Testing Practice

Always confirm the circuit is fully de-energized and isolated before applying a test voltage, because insulation testers deliberately output high voltage and connecting one to a live circuit is dangerous to both the operator and the instrument. Discharge the tested equipment afterwards, since cables and windings can hold a charge long enough to deliver a shock minutes later.

Disconnect sensitive electronics from the circuit before testing, as the applied test voltage can damage semiconductors and surge protection devices that were never designed to see it. Record readings alongside ambient temperature and humidity, because insulation resistance varies significantly with both and a trend over time tells far more than a single absolute number.

ممارسات اختبار آمنة
