UT336A refrigerant detector – How It Works

Sweep its probe along a suspect fitting or joint and the negative corona sensor detects halogenated refrigerant molecules down to a maximum sensitivity of 3g/year leak rate, triggering a 6-level sound-light alarm that intensifies as you get closer to the actual leak point. Adjustable sensitivity lets you dial back detection in noisy environments to avoid constant false alarms, or dial it up for hard-to-find slow leaks.

Running on 4 AA batteries with roughly 20 hours of battery life and a probe rated for about 50 hours of normal detection use, it’s built for regular HVAC and automotive refrigeration maintenance rather than occasional one-off checks.

Detection Technique

Move the probe slowly along joints and connections, because gas concentrations dissipate quickly in open air and a fast sweep will pass through a small leak without the sensor having time to respond. Work from the suspected area outward and always approach from upwind where possible.

Allow the sensor to warm up and zero itself in clean air before starting, since the instrument sets its baseline from the air around it at power-up. Replace or service the sensing element on the schedule the manufacturer specifies, as these sensors are consumable by design and gradually lose sensitivity long before they fail outright.

أسلوب الكشف

حرك المسبار ببطء على الوصلات والتوصيلات، لأن تركيزات الغاز بتتبدد بسرعة في الهوا المفتوح والمسح السريع هيعدي على تسريب صغير من غير ما الحساس ياخد وقت يستجيب. اشتغل من المنطقة المشكوك فيها للخارج ودايمًا اقترب من عكس اتجاه الهوا لو ممكن.

سيب الحساس يسخن ويصفّر نفسه في هوا نضيف قبل البدء، لأن الجهاز بيحدد خطه المرجعي من الهوا اللي حواليه عند التشغيل. غير أو اعمل صيانة لعنصر الاستشعار حسب الجدول اللي المصنع بيحدده، لأن الحساسات دي استهلاكية بطبيعتها وبتفقد حساسيتها تدريجيًا قبل ما تعطل تمامًا بكتير.
