The Raspberry Pi 5 camera cable exists because the Pi 5 quietly changed its camera and display connectors to a smaller, 22-pin CSI/DSI standard shared with the Pi Zero 2 W’s connector pitch — the older Pi 4-style ribbon cables from a Camera Module 2 or 3 will not plug directly into a Pi 5 without an adapter.

Pi 5 Camera Cable – Core Specs

At 300mm, this cable gives enough slack to mount a camera some distance from the board itself — inside a 3D-printed enclosure, or aimed out from a project box, for example — without needing an in-line extension. It uses the same flat flexible cable (FFC) construction as other CSI cables, just terminated for the Pi 5’s narrower connector at one end. The Pi 5 has two CSI/DSI-capable ports, so it can accept two camera cables simultaneously for dual-camera setups where the official Pi 4 could only run one.
