MC10125 Quad MECL-to-TTL Translator (Motorola)

The MC10125 (Motorola) is a quad MECL-to-TTL translator IC, the reverse-direction counterpart to the MC10124 also in this catalog, converting MECL 10,000-series signals back into standard TTL logic levels.

MC10125 – How It Works

Each of its four channels accepts differential MECL inputs (with ±1.0V common-mode noise rejection) and outputs Schottky TTL-compatible “totem pole” logic levels, completing the interface bridge needed for MECL high-speed logic circuits to communicate with conventional saturated-logic (TTL) sections of a system.

When troubleshooting a mixed MECL/TTL system, always check both translator directions — a fault on the MC10124 (TTL-to-MECL) side won’t be fixed by replacing this MC10125 (MECL-to-TTL) part, since they handle opposite signal directions.
