The 75174 (Texas Instruments) is a monolithic quadruple differential line driver IC with 3-state outputs, meeting the EIA/TIA-422-B and RS-485 standards for balanced multipoint bus transmission.

75174 – How It Works

It complements the receiving side of an RS-485 network (typically paired with the 75173 or 75175 receiver), driving balanced twisted-pair lines at rates up to 4 megabaud with wide common-mode voltage range for noisy party-line applications, plus built-in current limiting and thermal shutdown protecting against line fault conditions.

It’s the transmitter counterpart to the receiver function found in the DS9637A also in this catalog — together they form a complete RS-422/RS-485 transceiver solution for industrial multipoint bus networks.
