UT71B intelligent multimeter – How It Works

Its 20,000-count display resolves finer detail than a standard 6000-count meter, useful when small differences between readings actually matter, while True RMS keeps AC measurements accurate on distorted waveforms. Resistance up to 20MOhm and capacitance up to 20mF cover component-level testing, and a 45Hz-100kHz frequency response handles most real-world signal work.

MAX/MIN/relative modes, peak and data hold, and an analog bar graph round out its function set, and like the rest of the UT71 series it connects via USB or Bluetooth to the iDMM app for logging and pass/fail limit checks.

Getting Accurate Readings

Before taking any measurement, confirm the test leads sit in the correct input jacks for the function selected, because leaving a lead in the current jack while measuring voltage is the single most common way a meter’s internal fuse gets blown. Start on the highest range when the expected value is unknown, then step down until the display shows useful resolution.

Keep the probe tips clean and check the leads for cracked insulation regularly, since a damaged lead is both a safety risk and a source of unstable readings. Replace the battery as soon as the low-battery indicator appears, because a weak cell can quietly skew resistance and continuity results well before the meter shuts down completely.
