UT673A battery tester – How It Works

A four-terminal Kelvin connection measures internal resistance precisely, and the tester checks the battery itself (7-16V for a 12V battery), the cranking system during start-up (7-30V), and the charging system while the engine runs (7-30V) – three separate health checks in one session. It covers 10 battery standards and works with ordinary lead-acid, AGM, GEL, and EFB battery types, with results shown through simple color-coded LED indication.

As the base model in the UT673A/UT675A pair, it skips the report-printing and USB data-transfer functions found on the UT675A, keeping the workflow simple: connect, test, read the LED result.

Testing Batteries Correctly

Test a battery under load rather than relying on open-circuit voltage alone, because a cell can show a healthy voltage with no current flowing and then collapse the moment it is asked to deliver real power. This is the single most common reason a battery that tests fine on voltage alone still fails in service.

Let a battery rest after charging before testing it, since surface charge temporarily raises the reading above the cell’s true state. Keep the contacts clean on both the tester and the battery terminals, as contact resistance adds directly to what the instrument reports and makes a good cell look worse than it is.

اختبار البطاريات صح

اختبر البطارية تحت حمل بدل ما تعتمد على فولت الدائرة المفتوحة لوحده، لأن الخلية ممكن تظهر فولت سليم وهي مش بتمرر تيار وبعدين تنهار أول ما تطلب منها قدرة حقيقية. ده أشهر سبب لبطارية «اختبارها تمام» وبرضه بتفشل في الخدمة.

سيب البطارية ترتاح بعد الشحن قبل اختبارها، لأن الشحنة السطحية بترفع القراءة مؤقتًا فوق حالة الخلية الحقيقية. خلي نقط التلامس نضيفة على الجهاز وعلى أطراف البطارية، لأن مقاومة التلامس بتتضاف مباشرة للي الجهاز بيقوله وبتخلي خلية كويسة تبان أسوأ من حقيقتها.
