UT90D multimeter

The UT90D multimeter from UNI-T is an auto-ranging digital multimeter with a 4000-count (3999) display, adding relative measurement mode and a self-resetting PTC fuse compared to the base UT90A model.

How It Works

The UT90D auto-selects the correct measuring range for AC/DC current, AC/DC voltage, resistance, and frequency, and supports continuity and diode testing. Its relative measurement function lets the meter zero out a reference reading and display only the difference — useful for measuring small deviations from a baseline. The installed PTC fuse resets itself automatically after an overload trip, avoiding the need to replace a blown fuse after every overcurrent event.

Getting Accurate Readings

Before taking any measurement, confirm the test leads sit in the correct input jacks for the function selected, because leaving a lead in the current jack while measuring voltage is the single most common way a meter’s internal fuse gets blown. Start on the highest range when the expected value is unknown, then step down until the display shows useful resolution.

Keep the probe tips clean and check the leads for cracked insulation regularly, since a damaged lead is both a safety risk and a source of unstable readings. Replace the battery as soon as the low-battery indicator appears, because a weak cell can quietly skew resistance and continuity results well before the meter shuts down completely.
