LM2407 Monolithic Triple 7.5ns CRT Driver

The LM2407 is a monolithic triple CRT driver IC with a very fast 7.5ns rise/fall time, driving the red/green/blue cathode signals of a CRT display directly with the high voltage and speed needed for sharp video.

LM2407 – How It Works

It takes the relatively low-voltage RGB signals from the video preamplifier stage (like the LM1246/LM1247 also in this catalog) and boosts them to the much higher voltage swing needed to directly drive the CRT’s electron gun cathodes, with the speed required to keep pixel edges sharp at high resolutions.

A blurry or “ghosting” high-resolution CRT image, despite a clean signal from the preamplifier stage, is a classic symptom pointing to a failing CRT driver chip like this one, since its speed directly determines edge sharpness.
