This is a 90°C thermal switch (KSD301), a temperature-activated mechanical switch with no external power required to operate.

How It Works

Inside, a bimetallic disc (two metals with different thermal expansion rates bonded together) flexes and snaps between two shapes as its temperature crosses the 90°C threshold, mechanically opening or closing the electrical contact — this component is normally open (NO) — the internal contact stays open (non-conducting) under normal conditions, and closes (completing the circuit) once the sensed temperature rises above 90°C, making it suited to triggering a cooling fan, alarm, or protection circuit specifically when a high-temperature condition occurs. It’s rated for 10A at 250V.
