The Load Cell 1kg Weight Sensor uses the same strain-gauge Wheatstone bridge principle as larger load cells, but its lower 1kg rated capacity means it flexes more per gram of applied weight, giving finer resolution for light loads than a 5kg or 20kg beam would provide.

Load Cell 1kg – How It Works

Weight applied to the straight bar bends it a proportionally larger amount than it would bend a higher-capacity beam, producing a bigger relative signal change per gram — the same reason ACS712’s 5A variant reads small currents more precisely than its 20A sibling. It still needs an HX711 or equivalent 24-bit ADC to convert its millivolt-level bridge signal into a usable digital reading, and the same 4-wire color-coded output convention applies. Choosing the right capacity for the expected weight range matters more than picking the biggest number available, since an oversized load cell wastes most of its resolution on a light load.

General load cell behavior and HX711 pairing follow Utmel’s HX711 and load cell reference. Because it’s rated for only 1kg, this cell suits precision light-weight measurement rather than general-purpose scales expected to also weigh heavier objects occasionally.

Because it’s more sensitive to bending, this smaller cell is also more sensitive to overload damage, so a mechanical stop that firmly prevents excess deflection is worth adding to any finished scale design from the start.
