SN74240 SMD Octal Inverting Buffer/Line Driver

The SN74240 (SMD package) is the surface-mount version of the octal 3-state inverting buffer/line driver — functionally identical to the DIP version.

74240 – How It Works

Same internal logic as the through-hole 74240: 8 channels of 3-state, inverting buffering split into two independently-enabled 4-bit groups — just in a smaller footprint suited to automated SMD assembly.

Choose this SMD variant specifically for automated pick-and-place assembly or when board space is at a premium, otherwise it behaves identically to the DIP version.
