The VIPER12A (STMicroelectronics) is an integrated off-line switch-mode power supply IC, combining a high-voltage power MOSFET with PWM control circuitry on a single chip in a compact DIP-8 package.

VIPER12A – How It Works

Like the SD4844 also in this catalog, it puts the switching power transistor and PWM controller together on the same die, dramatically simplifying the design of a small offline power supply by needing far fewer external components than a discrete-controller-plus-transistor approach.
