The LDR Relay Module 12V pairs a light-dependent resistor on a 10-inch lead with an LM393 comparator circuit and an actual relay, making it a complete light-triggered switching solution rather than just a raw sensor needing external switching logic added.

LDR Relay Module – How It Works

The LM393 comparator continuously compares the LDR’s light-dependent voltage against a threshold set by an onboard precision potentiometer; when ambient light drops below that threshold, the comparator energizes the relay, and when light rises back above it, the relay de-energizes. Optical coupling isolation between the low-voltage sensing side and the relay’s switching side protects the sensing circuitry from any electrical noise or transients on whatever load the relay controls. The relay itself provides both NO (normally open) and NC (normally closed) contacts rated for 250V/10A AC or 30V/10A DC, letting it directly switch a real lighting circuit rather than needing an additional relay stage.
