The NTC Thermistor Module 4 Pin pre-wires a bare NTC thermistor into a ready-to-use voltage-divider circuit on a small breakout board, skipping the external resistor and wiring a raw thermistor would otherwise require.

NTC Module (4 Pin) – How It Works

Because the divider resistor is already built onto the board, the analog output pin reads a voltage that rises and falls with temperature and can be converted to a Celsius value using either a lookup table or the Steinhart-Hart equation, the same non-linear math any NTC thermistor requires regardless of packaging. The extra 4th pin on this variant typically breaks out a digital threshold output alongside the analog reading, similar in spirit to the DO/AO pairing on MQ gas sensor modules. This makes the module a faster starting point than a bare thermistor for anyone who doesn’t want to calculate and source a matching fixed resistor themselves.
