HITech 852D Rework Station – How It Works An internal heating element and fan combine to produce a stream of hot air adjustable across roughly 100-480°C, directed through an interchangeable nozzle sized to match the footprint of the component being worked on, from small 4mm nozzles for tiny passive components up to larger nozzles for bigger ICs; because the heat surrounds the whole component rather than touching one point at a time, hot air rework melts every solder joint on a multi-pin SMD part simultaneously, letting the whole component be lifted off or a new one seated evenly in one step. Airflow rate is adjustable alongside temperature, since a delicate 0402-size passive component needs only a gentle 10-20 L/min stream to avoid blowing it off the board, while a larger IC or heatsink needs both higher temperature and stronger airflow (upward of 40-50 L/min) to reach reflow temperature throughout its larger thermal mass.
